Insurance Claim Enquiry

Want to make a claim against my Insurance Company UIA (Unison)
We are covered for Buildings + Contnents and accidental damage/cover on both policies.
I live in a three bed semi detached house and recently the rendering on the side of the house has started to come away, so we started to remove the rendering to discover a lot of damage behind the rendering.
The brick work is severly damaged especially at the point where the wall meets the roof line.
The rendering was (I assume) put on a very long time ago and over the years it must of deteriated with weather etc.
The rendering is mostly removed, but had to leave the top part of the rendering (at the top of the house point) to protect whats left and to avoid any more serious damage to the wall.
Question is what do we say to the insurance company to make a claim, as the damaged created was beyond our control.

Sorry to say, but this sounds like a maintenance issue rather than an event that would be covered by insurance.0

Sorry, wear and tear and general maintenance.
Your policy will cover things like fire, riot, escape of water, malicious damage, impact by aircraft, theft along with the additional of accidental damage cover.
When did you buy the house and what type of survey did you have at the time?
General wear and tear and maintenance is never covered.Piglet

Depends what caused the damage, but as others say sounds like wear and tear to me so no cover would apply.0
