    For that size you will need a P L A S M A

  • Best way to thank for all advice given to me is to pass on what I found . Admitted panny fan just got txp50x10 plasma which is brill long as you dont mind 350 watts consumption . Recommend avforum for more expert comparisons , this set comes out better than the much cheaper txp50c10 maybe available for 600 via quidco + 123electrical.co.uk + discount codes from hotukdeals.com . Always recommend looking at your short-listed sets in the shop , preferably playing grainy freeview rather than bluray designed to make any set look its best

    Terrible advice.

For that size plasmas start to be able to compete with LCD price-wise. Generally speaking 40 inch or over plasmas become good value as large LCD panels are very expensive.

Plasmas are better for fast movement and games. Also they can produce better black levels. But they consume more power.

Plasmas can produce better blacks, but the best LCDs are so close that you wouldnt notice
LCDs generally have better contrast ratios (thats 'real world' contrast, not made up figures)
Sony LCDs in particlular are definitely better for movement
