At each end of the box-gutter, about 4 inches in, there is a raised lip that restricts all of the water draining away from the section.
My logic is that had this not been there, and, if there had been a slight descending dip in the box section, going to each end, the water would not be, as it always is now, stagnating within these two points.
It is obvious that being in the trade as you seem to be Bob, there is some good reason for this Code of Practice that I was quoted by a Building Company, being there in the first place. That I can't for the life in me see.

Just to add my comments about using my pressure washer to clean the conservatory, after giving it more thought I think that the use of a pressure washer should only be limited to the gutter area and the fancy decor' on the ridge area. I will clean the glass etc with a soft cloth, much safer.
