Hi
i have just tried to install a in car Mp3/CD player in my car. The installation has seemed to have gone ok, it works when I turn it on and can listen to music through the speakers and even my in car phone kit is all working :-)
The only problem I am having is when I setup my preset stations and clock settings when the ignition is turned off it loses all the settings. I have checked the back of the cd player and ensured that all of the connections are correct.
Is the problem with the back of the headunit, or could it be something under the bonnet such as the battery not being connected to the radio? Whats odd is if I leave it for a few moments it keeps the settings but if its off for hours thats when it loses the settings.
I have heard on some forums that I have to swop a yellow and red lead around, is this applicable for all systems? is there any really step by step guide on the internet which can guide a novice like me? Also if anyone has any good instructions on installing a window mounted DAB aerial, that would be really handy.
The car is a 06 Ford Focus so any advice would be of great help.
Many thanks

looks like you haven't connected permament live correctly. I fitted a lidl radio to my car (someone had destroyed the loom with a previous installation
) and used a multimeter to find perm live - dead easy

probably the same as Peugeots , even though ISO connectors are meant to be standard they swap the permanent live and the ignition live , mine does the same
you can get these
http://www.thesitebox.com/Category/5742/scotchlock-connectors.aspx
just locate the red and the yellow on the smaller of the 2 ISO connectors and swap them by cutting .
if you don't feel brave then find your local auto electrician or ask halfordsEx forum ambassador

On the HU I bought there is a red and yellow connector you can "swap" between the back of the HU and the connectors in the dash - originally they were already swapped and after changing all the settings it lost it on turning the engine off.. twice.
Swapped them back round and it worked fine.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0
