Return goods w/out receipt

I bought a Ted Baker handbag from House of Fraser less than 3 months ago. I only use the handbag at weekends when I go out. I have noticed the outer skin of the bag (a patent-look skin) is cracking and peeling away. I wonder if it is possible to return it without the receipt?

I really do like the handbag and wouldn't mind a replacement. It was bought with a credit card (under £100) and I still have the original tags and cloth bag it came in. I really did not expect the bag to be of such bad quality, am I within my rights to return it?

A receipt is not always not necessary, but you still need proof of purchase.

Do yu have your credit card statement, that would probably do.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Yes your credit card statement will be sufficient as a proof of purchase, the retailer apparently is not legally obliged to provide a receipt.

Don't be fooled, "designer" does not guarantee quality. The terms are far from synonymous.

  • Thanks for the replies. I'm off to House of Frasers to see if I return the handbag.

:jI got a full refund on my handbag. Fortunately, I kept the bar code pricing tag otherwise, although I will still get my refund, I would have to wait them to process it through head office which may take some days.
