ok,here it goes..... i want to get a house with my OH im 20 and hes 23 and we;ve been together 6yrs. we can only rent at the mo, dont wanna get tied down wiv a mortgage. seen 3 houses at 500pcm. nice houses in a nice area (for some reason houses in worse areas are nearly the same pcm but anyway) im a student but work in a diy store 20hrs per week always with overtime when wanted and not in uni. he works in a company doing engineering (not a qulified engineer so factory work)
all in all my basic wage pcm at 20hrs a week= £457 + whatever over time.
he earns approx after tax 300 a week....approx 1200pcm
would we be asking for too much to start renting a house each mth for 500 plus over outgoings....
currently i pay my car off £90 pcm, OH car £140pcm, mobile phones x2 £50 quid (im due im upgrade so could downsize line rental of £25...
i really want a house and independance but dont know if it would be practical, really dont want to wait until after i finish uni-(dnt wanna be living with my parents at 23!!
please help as i want to phone about the houses tomorrow.....

apart from the bills, you will probably need one months rent in advance, plus another months rent as a deposit, plus some sort of administration fee - are you in a position to fund all that for a start ?0

i think you need to do a spreadsheet of all your bills - council tax, electric, gas, water, sewage, food, entertainment, travel, loans, phone, insurance - i can recall Really underestimating all my bills when i got my first house. good luck0
