Hi there this is my first post and would be greatful of a little help if you can thanks
I bought a TV 42" ambilight plasma from currys 28th Sep 08 now it is out of the 12 month manufacturer warranty
The set has broken and is with a local tv repairer who says its to expensive to repair so he has written it off now. and is doing a report.
I went to currys explained i payed nearly a thousand pound for it and could they help me out.
They told me they sell extended warrantys and thats why so they say its upto the manufacturer now.
any thought on this please

Don't let the repairer dispose of it as Currys will most probably wish one of their own engineers to see it, but do get the report.
I for one would certainly expect a £1000 tv to last longer than 15 months, however you will need to go into writing, mention the Sale of Goods Act (Salient points here) giving Currys time to rectify, I would suggest 14 days, after which you will need take out a claim against them.
You can read how to make a claim Here"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Thanks for your quick response I will do some writing and see where i get to. I will get the tv back from the shop many thanks,0

We had this happen to us last year. 14 months old tv and the sound went. We had bought it from Currys too and the manager was great and sent us to an authorised repair centre and they inspected it and confirmed it was due to manufacturing fault and not negligence (ie dropping it). Once this was reported Currys picked up the tab for the repair.:j
Samsung were not interested in helping at all but Currys came up trumps!!
Good luck...., a big smile and being calm maybe helped me too:D
DLJLife is a rollercoaster.....ya just gotta ride it:whistle:0 -
Take it back to Curry's, they are responsible for repairs if it breaks in an unreasonable amunt of time whether it's out of warranty or not. Have a look at the sales of goods act. I recently got a 2 year old PS3 repaired for free after quoting soga to the retailer.0
