Overpayment of jobseeker's allowance, do you legally have to return it?

The OP hasn't stated how the overpayment occurred in the first place. If it was departmental error, then he won't have to pay it back at all.0

And lets not forget the £15,000 of student loan for these purposes is irellevent as the OP has no income so therefore won't have to start repayment yet.No one is going to shoot you down.
However the OP eludes in their first post that they owe the money.
The point of the question and reason for posting was to see if the OPs status as a student removes the liability to pay it back.
It clearly does not, and the OP has been told that.
