Overpayment of jobseeker's allowance, do you legally have to return it?

    The OP hasn't stated how the overpayment occurred in the first place. If it was departmental error, then he won't have to pay it back at all.

    And lets not forget the £15,000 of student loan for these purposes is irellevent as the OP has no income so therefore won't have to start repayment yet.
