Investing for the Future

Hello All,
I am a new member and have recently turned 18. I am looking to invest in something or save somewhere were I can make money.
Can anyone give me advice on shares i should buy that are going to increase in value or bank accounts with good offers. Also can you tell me where to buy and deal cheap shares?

    No. It is against the board rules to give specific investment advice. It is also unwise to invest in something just because an internet forum post tells you to.

    If you see a recommendation on the internet or newspaper to buy a certain share, then that is usually a sign to avoid it like the plague and if its a share you hold, its time to get out.

    Don`t touch shares unless you have money to lose. Try paper trading and see how you do over the next year or so. In the meantime learn about market mentality, TA, fundamentals and so on. If you trade shares without educated knowledge then you become a gambler and is this what you really want to do with your money?

    No-one can tell you what shares are going to do well; you have to do your own research and make your own decisions. Have a good look around the Motley Fool and Incademy, both places where you can learn how to choose shares and construct a portfolio.
