in Credit cards
Hi
We currently have all the usual 0% ers and doubt i can keep applying for more cards right now.
We have been moving money around and i wish to take advantage of the offer i have from Barclays of 6% ish for the life of the balance (they have been charging 24.9%) anyway i have some money on the barclaycard from a 0% deal which is ended and i am transferring this off to tesco/halifax/virgin as they are still 0% at present.
I am unsure what would be the best thing to do with the 6.9% for life we have approx £5000 available on the barclays when i have emptied it as they recently upped my credit limit without asking..
We have 2 large full credit cards (£7500 and £14,500:eek:) as well as some lower balances on mint £2000/egg £600 the apr is pretty much the same on them between 17% and 19.9%. and a loan for double glazing at 23.6%. The big cards are in my husbands name only and so is the barclays.
Would it make any difference to any future applications (mortgage fixed rate due to end in nov 2010) if i spread the larger credit card around rather than the smaller ones and reduce its limit? I am only asking as when we moved a couple of years ago they wouldnt give us a shorter mortgage due to the debt although we were paying £200 a month more than we are now (we were forced to 30 years from being down to 19) and we could argue at the time about this, i am hoping to reduce to years again in nov if i can, i have no probelm making repayments on the cards so all up to date etc last defaults over 10 years ago.
Thanks
