unhappy with response from First Plus re PPI

We sent a letter to FP about a month ago and had a reply that we would hear back from them on or before 14th December. Today we have had a reply saying that to resolve the matter they need to trace the telephone calls from point of sale of the loan and PPI (which was nearly 5 years ago!!) - and that when they have thesethey will be able to provide a full response to our complaint.
They will then contact us again by 14th January.
We are completely disgusted that they feel they have to go back through 5 years of recorded phone calls in order to address our complaint - another month of our money and interest on it that they are taking.
Has anyone else had this sort of response and if so what was the outcome?
Please offer any advice if you have any!!!

Why? Seems reasonable to me. You have made an accusation. They wish to verify if that accusation is correct or not.another month of our money and interest on it that they are taking.
Any redress is paid with interest and its at higher rate than you can get on a savings account. So no problem.
They are still within the 8 week window and dont appear to be doing anything wrong (not often you say that about first plus!)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). yes i can see your point - you are right and being sensible!! its just that when we are only a few months off the end of the term of the contract it just feels like they are deliberately dragging their feet!
just wanted to know how it had worked for other people really.
thanks for your response - all gratefully received.0 -
I think they are perhaps very busy at the moment and just hope its good news in the new year for you.

I got the same response and then they rejected my claim when they went through the calls.
I sent the second letter back, complained to FOS who havent actually doen anything, but in the meantime FP then upheld my claim - result!
Be patient0
