5 Lever Mortice Deadlocks - How to fit?

Hi,
I just tried to get some home insurance but the insurer won't insure the house unless there is 5 lever mortice deadlocks.
How easy is this to fit onto doors (they are old original doors in a 1930s house) for a locksmith, and what are the typical costs? I don't really want to buy new modern PVC doors as I'd prefer to keep th originals.
Cheers

Are they hardwood doors?
A locksmith or carpenter will do it easily, but I personally wouldn't DIY it, unless its softwood.
Prices will vary wildly depending on where you live!0 -
you can buy them for 15/30 quid each. easy enough to fit really.
if you need a locksmith then about 60/100 quid per door.Get some gorm.0 -
What sort of locks do you have at the moment. If they are mortised then changing to a better quality lock should be easy as they may well fit into the existing mortises, If you have rim locks then it is more complicated. You do not need a locksmith, just a competent handyman or a carpenter.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
It depends on what you have on there at the moment, if its a mortice (chubb style) or Rim cylinder (yale type) lock both can be purchased in BS3621 variants as for fitting if your good with a chisel and drill you should be ok if not get a locksmith or joiner to do it for you prices already quoted seem reasnable depending on what locks you go for.0

no need to swap to upvc doors at all, its a very simple job to install the locks.
