East Coast £9 offer

Travel anywhere on the East Coast route (between Kings Cross and Edinburgh / Glasgow) for £9 one way. Used it several times - makes trips a bargain!

Have regular users of the East Coast Mainline noticed any other money-saving changes (fares, catering etc) since the government took over the franchise from National Express last month?

They seem to be offering 10% off some of their first class advance fares - not all, but some.

Catering if anything is better than it was under NXEC, and so far (am a twice-weekly long distance user of the ECML) I haven't been a minute late since EC took over (compared to regularly being 20+ minutes late with NXEC).

It does also appear that there are more of the £15 advance fares available last minute compared to how it was before - but that might just be coincidence (or psychological!).

I've just booked 2 £9 fares from Newcastle to London for next month for my mate and me - but we're travelling at stupid o clock in the morning!!! :rolleyes: good idea though.
