  • Were these the "poterie" range, ie ceramic? As they are only for oven. I have never had any problems with my cast iron le creuset, well except when OH burnt the living daylights out of it, never for it to be resurrected :( But it is only the cast iron ones that can be used on a hob

Agree 100% mine is cast iron too, I have some of the poterie range and they won't go on the hob, but my cast iron is superb - my Mum bought it because I loved hers that she had had for decades, they go on and on, but you do pay for it, £120 for mine, now crikey!

I tend to watch out for sales on amazon-got a 24cm one to replace dead one for £55, and a 28cm HUGE one for £48incl postage.
I love my le creuset, cast iron griddles make the best steaks :D I really want a shallow casserole, and an oval one, but have no more room in my cupboards:o :rotfl:

I agree with the enamel option. I've got enamel baking dishes that were my nans, she's been gone 10 years now and the dishes were old when I got them. I recently needed another roasting pan, so bought an enamel one.
