Overpayment of benefits

Hello

I just thought I would let everyone know what happened with me in case it may help anyone. I was overpaid incapacity support last year by just over £1000. I had started paying back £60 a month from feb and in October heard about a court case saying that if the overpayment was their fault they had no right to claim the money back. (I can't find the link to the website about this but I'm sure someone can find it if anyone needs it). I then wrote to them telling them this and I was therefore stopping all repayments and expecting a cheque in the post for what I had already repaid - £540 - I didn't really expect the money back but hoped it would at least mean I wouldn't pay them any more. Well I got a cheque in the post yesterday for £540!!!

So, anyone who has an overpayment issue, as long as it's their fault, definitely don't pay!!!
