New Credit Card - Lloyds TSB

Hi All,

I am holding Natwest Current Plus Account (with overdraft of £500) and Lloyds TSB Current Account (without overdraft), since Dec 2005. I have been living on my past address for 4.5 years and in my current address 3 months. I was not on the election register in my previous address. Now in my new address I am on election register. In Nov 2009, I have applied for Natwest Platinum Credit Card, and I have received the Credit card. It is being issued to me with a limit of £1500. Now for all these years, I am using Natwest Account for all my daily use and the Lloyds TSB account not used frequently and have very little balance and some times only zero balance. I am now looking to have another credit card from Lloyds TSB,
1- Do I need to wait for some time?
2- If Yes, how many months?
3- What needs to be done to get the CC from Lloyds TSB? Pls guide.

Thanks in advance!

  • I think you need to wait for a while, as I do not think that your electoral roll register will have been updated yet (you said you moved in 3 months ago).

Probably leaving at least 3 months (i.e. next Feb) will be a good idea.

I remember Lloyds TSB offers more card options in branch than over the internet (i.e. Gold and Classic is only available in branch). So I think it will be better to apply in branch.

Back then (pre-credit crunch days), I got a Classic CC eventhough having quite a low income with a good credit limit - I guess it shouldn't be too difficult as long as your current Lloyds TSB account has been managed well!
  • tsb isnt my main account, although i transfer £2000 a month from barclays to pay bits and bobs, i might go in branch to see f they can offer me their platinum mastercard. could do with a limit of £3k right now.......
  • Ltsb will be able to tell you if you qualify for a credit card and what limit you would be given if you ask a member of staff in branch.
This can be done without a credit search on you although you would be credit scored as part of the application process.
