This was addressed to my partner's email address and he has never sold anything on eBay only bought stuff.

This particular line looks very dodgy "http://billebay.tripod.com/"

Also, this has come supposedly from ebay.com whereas we've only ever used ebay.co.uk

I reckon this is a scam, what does anybody else think?

    Of course it's a scam.

NEVER click on a link that says it's from EBay - especially when it's asking for personal information, always log onto your account as you would normally

    Also forward it to spoof@ebay.co.uk

  • Ebay & Paypal will always address you by name when contacting you directly. If a message starts "valued eBay member" or the like then this is most definitely a scam.

If you are still in doubt about whether it is real or not, then find out what they need you to do (It's normally updating details) and then go to their website and carry out the request that way. NEVER use the links provided on the e-mails.

As I've never been a buyer or a seller on Ebay, I presume the mail I received (below) is another scam then?

    "Dear Valued eBay member,
We are moving to better servers so that better services can be provided.Due to our migration, it is necessary to update our database and backup our customer's data. In order for us to accomplish that, you need to enter the below informations.
To complete eBay update process, just click the button below:
    ATTENTION!
If these informations are not sent to eBay Inc by 15 January 2005,then your eBay account with us
    will be automatically deleted!

If the button above does not work, type in or copy and paste this link into your Web browser:

    http://pages.ebay.com/register

Make sure you copy this link exactly and do not add extra spaces.

    Your confirmation code is: ****
    [asterisked out by me]

If you need additional help, contact eBay's Customer Support."

Should I just ignore it and forget all about it?

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks a lot robnye :)

Thought it best to ask in case anyone else had received the same.

And you get them from financial companies?? Worst one I had, appeared in my mailbox and looked to all intents and purposes like a 'real mail' from Yahoo (I think).

Luckily, as I was typing in my password, Yahoo's warning came on reminding me that they don't ask for passwords

    Phew ;)

Thanks again and apologies if I've gone off topic slightly.
