Just bought meself a DVD hard disc recorder, so I am about to dump the old VCR. However, I thought I would firstly transfer my video tapes to DVD. Now I know the concept of recording them on to the hard drive on the recorder, then transfering them onto a DVD disc, BUT---- how do I do it? ie, what leads do I need etc. I just want to do a straight transfer, no editing or adding titles ( unless its dead easy). My machine is a SONY HX 525.

on my machine which is a dvd recorder (not hard drive),you just switch the source of the recording in the settings menu and use a svideo to composite cable ,however it wont record from commercially made video's as there is copy protection.

Follow the information on pages 27 and 63 of your manual.

If you dont have your manual for any reason it is available here:

you all make it sound so easy, I'll give it a go. I was quoted £100 to have them all done professionally, so I'll be saving money ( so I've told my OH when he saw how much the DVD recorder cost. Thanks everyone.
