Vanquis Credit Card

Hi Guys,

I recently have taken out a Vanquis credit card and am paying it off in full each month. I received my latest statement through the post and am both annoyed and astonished to see a £1 "minimum finance charge" that was due to come out on the 2nd December.

Granted, this isn't a large amount of money, but why the heck have they done this !? I am not happy at all and intend ringing them tomorrow to see what the story is with this, and also whether they have taken it in previous months. (I wouldn't know this as the postal strike caused statements never to arrive.)

I have googled this and I have found this:

Any help or explaination would be greatly appreciated, folks.

Andy :)

  • I had the same. I did not follow this up but this is meant to be a thing that they do a bit, call them on saynoto0870.com and tell them to remove it. In fact i'm going to do the same since I have noticed it has came up a few times on this forum.

Is this not the same as on many cards - if you pay off in full before the payment date each month, there is no charge. If any interest is charged to the account, the amount will be rounded up to a £1 minimum
  • What I mean is, I always pay my vanquis card in full but still got this charge. I will call them next week to see what they say, but double check my payments first :)
  • Good man, Duggie.

It is not on, in my book. I am gonna give them a ring tomorrow. Do I go on to that website and ring them for free - is that it ?

WATP, by the way, lad ;)

  • Good man, thank you !
  • Rang them up and they sorted it. They stated that the reason was that the direct debit payment came out on the Monday, as opposed to the weekend date. What a joke !!!

Anyway, got it sorted and they are refunding the £1 charge back to me in the next statement.

I will be ditching the scamming so and so's in 2 or 3 months after I continue to pay the account off in full for that period.
