Sky plus help please

hi

wondering if any one can help.

i moved my tv to the opposite side of the room, bought extension cables for the sky plus box & fitted them, obviously not correctly!

i can watch sky plus and anything previously recorded, but we cant watch a tv channel if the sky + is recording, getting a no signal error and it doesnt record!

i have them in the 1 & 2 inputs in the rear of the sky box & have tried swapping them around but its not working either way?

do a reset - take out card and unplug, leave it unplugged for a minute or so then put card back in and turn on.

If this doesnt work, press interactive button and check your signal strength in the settings menu. This should show signal strength on tuner one and tuner two. If one is showing as no strength then there may be a problem with the extension lead you are using.
  • thank you!

    will try now!

Best way to extend the coax cable is buy these.

If it's a made up cable, check that the is no braiding touching the center core stinger, that will short out the transponder. Also check you have'nt bent the core stinger or even snapped it off when fitting it. (came across that a few times!)
If this doesnt work, press interactive button and check your signal strength in the settings menu. This should show signal strength on tuner one and tuner two. If one is showing as no strength then there may be a problem with the extension lead you are using.

    Bad advice,
You'll find the signal strength & quality in 'SERVICES',not interactive.
    (Services-4-6 on the remote)
The Signal quality is more important than signal strength.

    Hi,
How is this bad advice when it is factually correct?
On my sky+ HD box I press interactive, scroll across to settings, select signal and that gives the signal strength for both tuners (only gives quality for one tuner).

The remote has a services button on it,You must have the new EPG,which you did'nt state.I dont on my Sky+ or bog standard box & I'm guessing nor for the Op.
The Quality is more important than the strength of the signal,I've been to job's where the's been 75% strength & not much quality & the picture has been !!!! or non existant.
But,hey,I've only been in the game since 89,so what do I know....
