Detached vs link detached (for noise levels)

A lot of link detached are effectively 2 bed houses with a third bedroom over the garage - they are really a fancy builder's way of making a terrace house look more expensive and confusing everyone who can't find any similar houses int he area to compare them with. Builder wants you to think a link detached is nearly as good as a detached whereas it shouldn't be as good as a semi, where at least you can get round one side!
