hi new to this. but does any body know what is the best price. for gas and electricity. just been on the moneysupermarket.com. and u put in the postcode and it tells you the best place to go. and it says british gas. is one of them for both. my electricity is with npower and gas is with british gas. about 5 days ago. e-on came to my door. saying they could beat them. so i changed to them. then went on moneymarket and it said they was not. so rang them up and canceled it again. yours glenn

It depends on your region, your consumption, your meter type and your payment method. Plug those into the sites like moneysupermarket or energyhelpline or uswitch and see what they advise. If your inputs were accurate and a British Gas tariff was spat out then that may well be the winner. Try again with a different comparison site and see if it confirms the suggestion.

You should use your annnual consumption in kWhs as an input (rather than the monthly price you pay).

And never buy anything from doorstep salesmen.

i work for npower and i know that suppliers are constantly changing tarrifs. newer online tariffs seem to be winning however m,ost of them reward you with cheaper units for having a regular direct debit.

it is sometimes cheaper to use 1 supplier for gas and 1 for elec. but it all depends on your area, how much you use etc
