I got my renewal through for insurance for my fab dog Charlie, it has gone up again! Wouldn't mind but have never claimed on this policy.
Anyway renewal quoted was £17.99, yet i put in as a new customer and was quoted £10.95 p.m. for the same.
What a rip off, I know they want new customers but what about looking after the ones you have!
Well i will be cancelling policy and taking out the new one, just need to make sure this an be done LOL, customer services not open at mo!

Hi
I have just had our re newal for our dog and it's gone up from £12.39 to £17.04 in January, I have only ever claimed £54.00 over a year and the excess has gone up from £60 to £100 I couldn't believe it and when I phoned to check the lady on the other end assured me it hadn't gone up because I had claimed as I had thought but because every other insurance has gone up because of the current credit crunch etc. she also told me as Jess is now 7 yrs old the premium goes up too ~ by the way we are with Halifax Xtra up to £6000 per year etc.
So will look around also but she has a pre existing skin condition (allergy thing) so don't know who to change to.
Best of Luck0 -

This happens to me every year with tesco car insurance and every year I go online and create a new quote! Their customer services confirmed that this was okay. My only problem was that each time, they kept pestering me for a copy of my no claims bonus. I had to continually tell them that I was insured with them previously so they should have record of it!! Shouldn't be a problem with cat insurance though!!!0 -

There are a couple of issues that could cause this.
1 - first year discounting.
2 - different version of the plan. Providers will issue new versions over the years with some things removed and some new things included. Pricing will alter with those changes
3 - a new policy can more easily get rejected claims than an old one using pre-existing condition as the reason.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). This has happened to us with car insurance; what I do is ring up and ask them why I can get it cheaper with them online than with their renewal. What they have done - every time- is reduce the renewal quote to mtach the online quote.Worth a phone call ?0
