Hi All,
Just trying to get my head round the new bank charges - have never had to be involved in this before as all my accounts have always run in the black so not sure exactly what all the new results mean.
I hold an A&L current account which has been empty for ages as they haven't been competitve on the interest. I knew there was a condition where they could charge an under funding fee, but ignored it as its not been funded for loads of months and no action was taken. I then received a letter today that stated that i was overdrawn by £90, which turns out 2 be two months of under funding fees (£5 a time) and an £80 overdraft fee. I know the courts have decided the £35 ish charges are not unfair as it is a cost of free banking, but this height of charge over another charge seems far to high for me. Is it worth disputing it? And if I do, can I demand they freeze the account or can they carry on whacking charge after charge on the account while I try and fight it?
Thanks, any help appreciated.

Whilst you are working out whether or not you have any claim, pay the bank the £90 and close the account.
If you subsequently find any reason to make a valid claim, then you can claim it back ... but remember, you have an obligation to mitigate any loss, hence why I suggest the action above
