just got off the phone with halifax customer relations, they tell me that if you have priority debt arrears they may pay that as part of your charges reclaim under financial difficulty, however if your priority debt is £1000 but you are actually owed £4000 in charges then the likelyhood is you will never see the other £3000 again, that stays in the banks vault.
barring a political intervention, trying to get the banks to recognise that there actions are a detrement to people and the economy is for me proving futile.

they are seeing the supreme court outcome as the end of the road for us,however this is just the beginning for me,before they had a fight with me,now they have a battle ahead,no prisoners............onwards forever onwards.missed direct debit charges, very odd, theres no pain so how come the big gain,i.e £39.00 for a letter0 -
halifax are the biggest instigators of rip off britain. When my hubby and I opened a joint account we asked for cashcards. We were send a card each which we were told would be solo as we both had seperate accounts with different banks. We havent used the account since Sept and have been charged £105. They are now threatening us with court action as I have refused to pay for charges they have added over the last 2 months or so. Also they have allowed payments to go from said account due to the fact they gave us visa electron cards. These cards arent supposed to allow you to go overdrawn. When we asked for a temporary OD they said no. then what a surprise 4 months later they have charged us £105 since October. And to top it all this is the bank that us the british taxpayer bailed out. Total rip-off merchants. Have not been sleeping since i got the letter on Tuesday morning. Not good really when I'm going into hospital in right after Christmas, they are the scum of the earth.0

if you havnt used the card how could they charge you anything, bit confused ? also visa electron are designed like you say to not be able to go overdrawn.i had one myself,if they cash wasnt in the account you didnt get any transactions authorised.missed direct debit charges, very odd, theres no pain so how come the big gain,i.e £39.00 for a letter0 -

It changes nothing and his approach of business as usual DOES NOT affect claimants in financial hardship. The approach you gave in post 1 is the approach they should have taken with the waiver apart from staying the rest of the case. As I said, it's business as usual.0 -

finacial difficulty and the halifax go together like eggs and jam
my situation changed dramatically over the last 4 months,it wasnt good prior but heres a rundown of wht my cash flow is in a nutshell and the halifax still say no to my charges being refunded, they made me an offer of £1700 froma 6k ish claim(they would pay my priority debts direct not cash to my account, cant argue with that one really i suppose)
incoming........£600 per month,crap money
outgoing........£450 rent monthly, thats not good to start with
that leaves £150 for, food, electric, water rates, council tax, telephone plus other bits like debts £6000 credit card the list goes on,obviously they view me as,tough, you got into debt, you get out of it.
maybe its time to up the ante with the halifax.missed direct debit charges, very odd, theres no pain so how come the big gain,i.e £39.00 for a letter0 -

They said that some stores take a while to take out the money when the card is used. Have since spoken to customer relations and they were as helpful as a paper bag to carry water. Found the person on the other end of the phone very condascending. When I spoke to them in September they told me that we only had to put £100 in to the account to put it in the black. Wasnt made aware of any other charges to be taken out. Always checked that there was money in said account before using cards. Funny tho that if it said we had a + balance. As soon as we used the card something would miracilously go out, therefore sending us over drawn. They say it's other companies and not their problem. Like you said cant understand how they would allow money to still be taken from the account. Am fuming. Cannot believe that the Supreme Court could favour the banks, especially when the british taxpayer bailed them out.0
