AOL mail & Internet Explorer

This must have been asked previously but I cannot find the answer today.
How can I have my AOL mail transferred to IE. What steps to take? I really dislike AOL but the price is right and I don't want to make a change after all this time.

It's a while since I last saw anyone using AOL mail, but I'm fairly sure that the AOL software simply acts as a browser.

So if you start IE (or better Firefox or another alternative browser) and put http://www.aol.co.uk/ into the address bar, you should then just need to click the Sign In link at the top right.

Alternatively, click on the picture of the envelope with the words 'AOL Mail' beneath it.

Why don't you set up your AOL email account to download into Outlook Express or Windows Mail? Then you don't have to log in or even be online to reference your emails-they're already there on your PC.
And should you change ISP's in the future, you don't have to worry about losing access.

Hi again, just curious, does your browser shut down if you have not used it for a period of time, as mine does? I can leave the comp for sometimes 10-15 mins, or less at times and have to log on to AOL again. I think it,s default to loose up bandwidth. It can be a pain if you are checking flight arrivals etc.

Are you referring to a secure web site or the internet connection itself? Most examples of the former disconnect idle users on the assumption that they've left the site and forgotten to log off, whereas a dropped connection from the latter may indicate that there is a problem with the connection between you and the local telephone exchange. Your choice of web browser should have nothing to do with it.

    Do you have a router?

Hi, It,s the latter and I have a router.Sometimes I can leave the comp online with AOL for hours, then, as today, kids off school, it will log me off aol if I am inactive, or even scanning, after 10 mins or less. It varies on day, and time of day. I am not timed out of site, just not using comp but still online?

It doesn,t do it when I use IE browser, just AOL browser? I woulg have thought IE would be more in demand than AOL at my exchange.

Your exchange is incapable of distinguishing between information requests originating from different programs - they all communicate in exactly the same way. If this only happens when you're using the AOL browser, try using something else.
