Martin seems to suggest that the above is the best place to get house insurance quotations. They quoted a price more than twice that of other companies I went to direct such as More Than.

Yes comparison sites are not always the cheapest. I just use them as a guide and then approach companies directly for quotes.
Also use several comparison sites as the premiums vary between the different sites for the same Insurers. This I believe is due to the different comparisons sites charging Insurers varying levels of commision.
Don't rule out going back to using a decent local broker (not Swintons) as they often can obtain a competively priced policy.The comments I post are personal opinion.
