    Not true.

If you send an item via special delivery then the item is obviously worth more than £32 (compensation for 1st class mail w/COP). With special delivery you can be covered for up to £2500.

It is online trackable as well.

Firstly I would ask the buyer if they mind waiting until perhaps the middle of the week to see if the item does arrive.

I think Royal Mail refund the cost of the item minus postage and packaging.

Definitely try and stall until at least week 2, be polite reassure your buyer that you will refund and all should be fine. If by week 2 item still has not been received refund in full (Including p and P) and after 15 days start a claim for loss form the RM.

I would normally say that RM only refund the item cost but not p and p, but the last two claims paid to me last month were both paid in full, so either I was lucky or the RM have changed their policy at long last :T

so don't know what you should do, but parcels do turn up.

just after xmas, ordered quite a bulky item from seller, plenty of contact, emailed me when item posted, after a week no sign, i emailed where is it you've had my money type message, reply sent on such a date. She then sent me the POP and said sort it!!! I went to my PO who said no she sorts it. I'd checked in sorting office defo not there. Sent POP back to her saying you're supposed to sort it. she was not happy at this and sent a couple of muttering emails, but at no time did she offer to refund the money - said I'd have to wait for her to trace the item. I agreed to give her 1 month and then chase it. I chased after 1 month, then 6 weeks- she still saying not heard, was just getting really P'd off when she emailed, parcel had turned up in Belfast (birmingham to Liverpool via Belfast:rolleyes: ). But it turned up and when she posted it again it did turn up. and i would have left positive feedback but the item had gone off the system it took so long. I was kept informed and did eventually get my item.

alice's mum, never ever give the seller 6 weeks to sort a loss out. Assuming you paid by paypal you only have 45 days to start a chargeback, once a seller can get you past that time frame you are lost.

If a seller isn't prepared to sort things out for you in a timely manner then go straight to paypal and let the seller fight them instead.

    Hi

Just thought I would let you kow my experiences when this happened to me....

I had sold a scout shirt and posted it in good faith and also got a proof of postage. When buyer contacted me about not receiving it, I emailed Royal Mail and followed their instructions to claim. Sent proof of postage with claim.

Most important thing is to keep the buyer informed of the process. I emailed a photocopy of the proof of postage and also warned him that the PO has stated is would take several weeks to arrive. I emailed buyer again to state that I had received cheque, think it took about 3 weeks.

I returned only cost of item, I had spent postage/packing when sent out as he could see from the proof of postage. He was happy with this.

I hope this helps, it is worth claiming.

Personally I don't think you should have made your buyer wait until you had the cheque to refund them. You should have refunded the buyer straightaway then kept the cheque yourself when it arrived. Also I don't think its fair that your buyer didn't get the p+p back, they paid for it in the first place, why should they be out of pocket? I know that if RM don't give you back the p+p that you are out of pocket but that is not your buyers problem IMO.
You say your buyer was happy with that though, most buyers wouldn't have been and if it was me I'd have mentioned the fact in f/b.

Shelly, methekidsandthecat was the buyer not the seller.

Edit: Ignore the above, no idea what I am talking about.

Not on the post I was quoting, they were definitely the seller.
