I'm on the TalkTalk Anytime tariff at £5.49 + £11.49 = £16.98 pm
BT have offered me a 12m contract at £4.95 + £11.25 = £16.20 pm &
yesterday a guy from Southern Electric (from whom I get both my gas and elec. called and tried to pursuade me to change on to their similar tariff for £11.50 + £5.49 = £16.99 per month (with an enducement of a voucher for £40 off my power bills after 3 months).
Not heard of Southern as a 'phone provider, so not sure what to do.
Seems OK and I can change to another supplier after the 3 months if I wish.
Comment? Guidance?

BT includes 'in plan' 0845 and 0870 calls. Do the others?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Southern Electric will not take your service over unless you have a BT Compatible Line, no good therefore if your on a Talk Talk unbundled exchange.
You must pay by dd, billing is quarterly.
0845/0870 calls are included subject to fair use policy.
Caller Display is £2.25 a month, where as its virtually free on BT subject to you making a couple of calls a month.
If you contact BT and ask for the Customer Options Team you should be able to get line rental down to £10.25p a month,24/7 inclusive 01/02/03/0845/0870calls for £4.95 a month. Plus £24 credit off your first or second bill.Subject to a renewable 12 month contract.
If you decide to go with Southern suggest you get the minimum term and £40 credit details in writing as you were given info by one of their infamous doorknockers.;)0
