My sister has had loads of items from them over the years, washing machines, a dryer, TV's, computers, beds, a kitchen table and chairs almost identical to one she was on her way to buy that very day (saved herself £120!!!)xmaslolly76 wrote: »the british heart foundation is a good suggestion i had my last washer from them it was a top of the range bosch for £100 delivered they do have cheaper options and they come with a short guarentee but in 2 yrs ive never had a single fault with it :-)
She's never had any problems with any of her items, in fact her dryer has lasted longer than any other dryer she has ever had (she has 6 kids, one is disabled so there is a LOT of washing) I wish we had a BHF furniture store round here

ok if i offended anyone im sorry but where was the language cept in the title and if the above is advice i seriously missed a point. ,i accept peoples advice willingly but in the circumstances sometimes its easier said than done hope none of you ever have major surgery and find yourselves sleepin on the floor, as part of that Huge 60 quid is to help buy a new bed base too. dont bother replying cos i wont be back on here :money:You've been paying national insurance contributions for thirty years but do not have even a couple of hundred pounds in savings? Sorry, that simply does not compute.0 -
Tigga I dont think anyone has given you bad advice at all.
If you are having serious issues with it then I suggest you discuss it with your district nurse (I assume they are coming to check on you?) or make an appointment with the CAB to discuss the issues with a welfare benefits adviser.
We have had several beds off freecycle, and I always go around the charity shops as they are excellent. You may like to see if you have a furniture recycling project close to you, they will deliver the goods for you as well and only charge a very tiny donation if you are in financial difficulties.
I think that as you have depression you need to seek help to seek out these organisations, and hopefully they will be able to guide you through the process.
Lastly can I remind everyone to please be nice to all moneysavers

As you have acknowledged the bad language, why not remove it? There is also an abbreviation used in your text that is not suitable. I am sure I don't need to repeat it for you to find it.Gone ... or have I?0

I must be blind but I can't see any bad language in the OP's posts ? Anger yes but no swearing.

Who cares if someone swears? There's a big difference between casual swearing and personal abuse. In all honesty, if I were sleeping on the floor having just had my womb ripped out in order to save me from cancer, the last thing I'd worry about is offending overly sensitive people on a message board with swearing.
Op - unfortunately where you've gone wrong is to work hard for 30 years. Had you sat on your backside pushing out sprogs you'd undoubtedly be in a much better financial position then you are currently. Notwithstanding that crashing error, the advice about Freecycle and charity shops is good.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

Ok well since this is going to turn into another benefits bashing thread I will have to close it
OP I think you have had some good advice and wish you the best.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
Hi Tigga. Sorry to hear of your situation. It can't be easy. Unfortunately the funds just aren't there for crisis and budgetting loans and it can be a postcode lottery depending on where you are in the country.
There is of course no logic in that, and frankly I know it is of little comfort. Some of the suggestions here are good. You may be able to get a washing machine through freecycle and could look for a second hand one which is a good option.
I suspect at the moment you just feel you want everything sorted quickly and to get on with your life - and a new one is an easier way to do that. Sadly the facilities aren't there to help Im afraid - but I do hope things will become easier for you.

And can I remind all moneysavers - this is a forum here to help others. Feel free to make suggestions; but remember when someone is asking for help its worth remembering they may feel fragile. While their situation may not seem so dire compared to others - we all judge things differently and so trying to stick with a positive helpful attitude is what this forums all about.
I was slightly surprised to read "as someone who's paid NI all your life you don't have any savings." Of course that would be a good situation - but frankly there are many people with severe debts, who may have good salaries, but get their lightbulb moment and need to sort it. They may not have savings (and if they do should be putting them towards debts).
When someone is asking for help - what would be great is you help them if you want to - or just don't post if not. This is meant to be a constructive forum.
Thanks for reading
