Break in employment claiming working tax credits

Can any kind soul out there let me know how long you can be out of work (if any time at all) for your tax credits claim to not need to be renewed. Situation is.... left one employer with promise of work next week. This has not come off and won't be able to claim IS as I left the previous job of my own accord. New employment now will probably not start until 5th Jan 2010. That will give a 4 and half week break. Somewhere I recollect you being able to have a break of four weeks without making a new claim. Have I just made that up?

Can't find anything about this on Governemt website just says that you must be expected to work for at least 4 weeks.

Grateful if you can help

    I don't even know what that means!!!!:rotfl:
  • If you leave employment you may be entitled to an extra 4 weeks WTC entitlement but you need to notify TCO immediately.

If you change employment you can only have a gap of 7 days between jobs or you need to re-apply.

You will need to tell TCO of the gap of more than 7 days ASAP. You will qualify for the 4 week run on and that only really leaves a loss of half a week.

How do you qualify for the 4 week run? I thought everyone got that?
