Importing CD tracks to iTunes...

Hi,
I have just been given an old iPod Classic by a friend who has upgraded.
It came with no instructions or CD so I followed an idiots guide on the net and downloaded iTunes and formatted it so I was starting from scratch.
I am in the process of trying to add my CD collection and it is taking an absolute age, the import time is showing as (0.1x). I have checked the import settings and that seems fine, AAC Encoder, iTunes Plus.....
Is there anything obvious that I am doing wrong? It took nearly 10 minutes to import a 1 minute track?

That is odd. Importing to iTunes has nothing to do with the ipod itself.
I tend to import CDs first and sync with the ipod laterWe all evolve - get on with it0 -
Thats what I am trying to do, the iPod is not connected yet.......0

More likely to be the PC spec slowing it down.0
