Advice about sending overseas.

I'm currently selling an ipod on ebay and although I put on the listing that postage is to the uk only someone emailed me asking if I would be willing to send to Estonia.

I looked at their feedback and they have bought 5 things over the last few months from UK buyers and they have 100% feedback about fast payment, good ebayer etc, so I told them that I would if they won it.

How would I go about finding out the postage costs to Estonia as i've never sent anything overseas before. Is there anything I should be careful of?

I forgot to add that the listing finishes in 2 hours and although they are the highest bidder at the moment they still might not win it and I may be worrying about nothing.

If this is over £39 then I would not have allowed foreign bidders on it as the tracking on international signed for is not guaranteed and the costs of tracking plus the enhanced insurance for items over £39 make it very expensive and a lot ot lose if buyer does a chargeback.

It's a 3rd Gen Nano so i'm not expecting it to go for much more than £40 so it's not to bad. I regret agreeing to it a bit now but we'll see what happens.

Apologies, I realise that my last post was not helpful . I've had a long day and I am a bit stressed at the mo with things needing to be done (like packing) before I go away in a few hours.

I hadn't actually realised that the insurance wouldn't cover more than £39 but I will remember that for the future.

Hope you have a good time where ever you're going. (It's not Estonia by any chance is it because you could do me a huge favour if it is?) :D:D

  • Recorded air mail for a small packet in Europe costs exactly £4.91

£1.21 for the postage for a small packet
£3.70 for the signed for international (in my experience its 90-95% reliable)

Im not too sure how much it costs to bump up the insurance but it sounds like £39 will be ok in this situation.

It would normally cost you about £1.68 to send a small package 1st class within the UK so i would charge an extra £3.50 for postage.

    Hope this helps.

(Check out RM terms for small package, a Nano should be covered by this method)

    Hope this helps

FYI: The postal insurance for 1st class standard is 100 x the cost of a 1st class stamp (Stamp = 39p thus £39)

    Thanks

Thanks very much everyone. As it turned out they got outbid with 2 seconds to go so it's now off to Bath :D
