credit card, benefits and court

Ok I got a £650 been told to pay something like £220 by the 17th otherwise court. Rung up today to make a £100 payment (obviously cant afford £220 a month) and they said no we cant doit, it breaks the agreement of £220! (I made no agreement) I was to pay £35 a month, and accidently missed 1 payment!

any advice? should i write a letter or just forget them.

kind regards

  • Just forget them.
  • ignore them, they will say all sorts to try and scare you, best thing to do is offer them a token payment of £1 a month, if they don't like it stuff them, ignore them because they WON'T take u to court, btw is your credit card before april 2007? :)

See i've offered them more than a token payment of £1, yet they simply are not taking the money from me unless its £220 a month. You ring the bank number - and it go through to basically a debt collection agency and they quite simply wont take a token payment.

So thats why im worried because if they are not willing to take a form of payment other than £650 lump sum or £220 a month for 3 months what are they aiming to do?

And no the credit card was issued in 2008

p.s thankyou all for your help
  • oh btw forgot to ask... is there intentions to get a baliff because i dont own a house, im kinda living at my parents now :(

The can 'intend' to do whatever they like.

But if you are only on benefits without any property, then the most likely outcome of taking you to court would be that you would be ordered to make token payments.

As long as you stuck to paying those token payments, the creditor would not be able to get bailiffs involved. End of.

They are trying to bully you into paying more now, because they know that any legal action would be pointless.
