M&S Disappointment

My parents sent a Christmas wishlist to me at my request. It was full of M&S stuff which I thought was no problem so I picked a few things out (slippers, rugby tops, stuff like that) and went to my local store to find them.

I had the product codes, so I asked in store whether they had them in stock and was told 'We don't have the capability to search our stock computers for item codes, you'll just have to look about.' - What?!

I couldn't find the stuff I wanted and was told to try online. Fine.

I went online and found what I wanted and ordered it to be delivered to the store for collection. Great.

3 days later I recieve an email informing me that the transaction hadn't gone through because the card details were declined. I checked online and the expiry date was set to an absurdly high figure. I don't know how it happened, but I'm fairly sure I didn't type it.

I went through the revision process to input the correct card details, saved the page and it promptly takes me to the cancellation section with no way out. It appears the website is being a bit difficult and will not record that changes have been made.

I make a note to call M&S to sort it out.

I then get a call from M&S telling me that I need to redo the payment details online (I know!). I explain about their crap website and they say they'll put it through again over the phone.

At this point, 4 days after my original order, I'm told that one of the items is actually out of stock so I'll only be recieving half of what I wanted, but don't worry, I won't be charged for the one they dont have. Brilliant.

At this point I told them to forget the whole thing and simply cancel the order.

I wait to see if even this can be accomplished.

M&S, what has happened to you?

I have to admit I don't know what amex is :D so probably not.

It was a bog standard card debit. But I suspect that there are general bugs with the M&S website.

    Just an idea....
If its a drop down menu selection it can be easy to use the scroll wheel on the mouse to move down the page once the correct month/year is selected but what happens is that the drop down menu is still highlighted and instead of scrolling down the page you scroll down the date instead.
If you cracking on with a order then its easy to miss.
If you have to type the numbers in then I have not a clue.

Ah yes I know exactly what you mean but it was ordered on my laptop from bed (so wasn't using a mouse and therefore no wheel). It was typed in so I cant figure out what happened.
