Mobile phone number hunt

Hi everyone, I have bought my daughter a mobile phone on the vodaphone network for xmas. I can't see the number on the sim pack (should it be there?) and want to give out this number to her friends so they can all get in touch with each other on christmas day.
Is there a way of finding this number without putting the sim in a phone and, if not, once i've put it in a phone how do I get it to divulge its number.
Thanks

put it in and ring your house phone and then do 1471.

Sorry that's my best suggestion but i would have thought the number would have been on the sim pack on the sticker.

Numbers are usually on the SIM pack somewhere, not seen a Voda one though, but O2 and Orange definitely did this. However if it isn't then, maybe *#100# might work, alternatively try and call another phone.

are you sure that plan is either necessary or even a good idea?

If the daughter is on one of these social networking sites she'll probably have no trouble contacting any of her friends on xmas day if they have her number in advance or otherwise....

....also depending on age i can't remember any point from age 6 upwards that i'd have relished the prospect of my mother/father phoning round everyone they considered my friends to hand out my perspective phone number.....

    I agree.

I would imagine part of the fun is for your daughter to text all her friends with her new number?

If you have opened the Phone packaging:

Is / Was the sim attached to the big creditcard sized bit of plastic when you got it? The number should be on that. (Not the phone packaging but the small package with the simcard and all it's terms and condidtions)
It should be on that somewhere...

If it isn't, locate the serial number and then call Vodafone...

No need, keying in *#100# followed by Send will reveal the number.

Indeed, but it seems that they don't want to open the packaging.

No - that was the plan but no matter . I have opened it and still no number so will have to put sim in and call #100#. Seems it needs setting up/registering anyway.

    There are a group of them getting a first phone for secondary school so as yet no numbers available to call ;
As for Facebook well are you mad. They don't seem to know much about it yet ( bet that will change at new school) and i'm not keen to tell them.
