Change of name, informing company registrars

Not sure where to post this but thought somebody reading this thread might have done this already.

I recently got married and then changed my name by deed poll on the same day. I'm now going through the tedious process of telling all sorts of organisations about my change in circumstances.

I have shares in a number of companies with paper certificates. Several of these companies share the same company registrars. Does anybody know if I can write one letter to the registrar and say I have this number of shares in company A, this number in Company B and this number in Company C, this is my new name, here's a certified copy of my deed poll to prove it, please update the details, send back my deed poll.

Or do I tediously have to write individual letters about each individual share holding. I know I could stick them all in the same envelope, but I'm sick to death of the paperwork already and I've barely even scratched the surface so far!

Thanks in anticipation of some help from somebody who's been down this road before me.

Anything official has always asked me to send my wedding certificate off. I've always been reluctant to as I married abroad and scared of it getting lost.

Is there any way you could contact the places 1st to ask.

BTW I'm intrigued why did you change your name by deed poll. Didn't you like your new husbands surname, couldn't you have kept your maiden name:confused:

I've kept my maiden name as a new middle name and taken my husband's surname.

so why did you need deed poll to do this:confused: was it because of the new middle name? I just showed people my marriage certificate and they changed my maiden surname to my husbands surname.

Yes it's because of the new middle name, if I'd just taken my husband's surname the marriage cert would have been fine
