Business Mail- Royal Mail or Courier

I can't find any information about the pros and cons of courier services to royal mail here. We all know about the strikes and such but I always thought royal mail was still cheaper, although unreliable. I found that uk mail does a thing called imail where you send your mail electronically to them and they print it and send it for you. I'm trying to find out if it's cheaper or not for our business and personal even. It cost 51p 1st class- letter headed included and envelope, ink, etc (everything) and 34p 2nd class. It's trackable mail unlike stamps. Right now we spend 36p on 1st class and 25 on 2nd franked mail. But pay for headed paper, envelopes, travel, time spent folding, etc. Is this cheaper? Does anyone use imail? Would appreciate anyone's experience.

Ive asked my customers if they would give me there email and send them invoices via email, most say thats ok. Say otherwise there is a processing fee of 50p per set of invoices sent. Most companies will ask for a email invoice.Kind Regards

How can it be trackable?
They won't deliver the item like a parcel, they'll pass it on to RM for the delivery stage.0 -

Once you have created your letter in imail’s easy-to-use word processing software simply hit the “post” tab and a secure copy of your document is sent direct to one of UK Mail’s own national network of print centres. There it is printed, enveloped and sorted for next day delivery by the local postman.
well done in getting an alternative to RM that uses RM :rolleyes:0 -
RM do offer a similar service through a company, can't remember what it is...
Its not trackable and also you won't get next day 1st class as you can't that quickly, I would expect 2 days to be least possible.0 -
Most of these companies like UK mail and TNT rely on the royal mail

All letter companies rely on RM for the final mile (ie delivery). Even DX use RM for delivery.
Only if you payed for parcel rate would you get it delivered by the courier.0
