I worked in Financial Services and there was no mention of informing them about an IVA but had to mention BR. A colleague was in an IVA and his role was regulated but didn't seem to have any problems. I guess it depends on the company and type of job you do.

Some people take an IVA to protect their job that they may lose if they go BR.
Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free :)
    Mortgage free since 2014 :)
  • I was made redundant last year and have found it impossible to work in Financial Services - Plenty of interest in my cv but as soon as I mention the IVA the doors are closed. I can't even be considered for a support role (i.e admin) because of the IVA - It would be easier to get a job if I had a criminal record.

As a result I have had to look for something else that is not regulated by the FSA. I'm still looking and remain hopeful.

Fate has a strange way of working in my favour though - I still have another 4 years left on my IVA and have now filed for bankruptcy. There is no equity in my home and my income will not be enough to lock me in for an income payments order as I have had to set my sights lower in looking for a new job. I should be discharged fully by the end of the year and I can then get on with my life. No more IVA repayments and a clean slate.
