Banks that have student accounts usually also do specific student credit cards (just checked and, for example, Natwest have one). Perhaps you could apply for one of these?

If you're a student and unemployed - you positively do not want a CC .... unless it's the only thing between you and starving? Have you tried (or to increase) a specific student overdraft first??

Call your bank and they may increase your student account free overdraft if you tell them you'll have a job soon.

    Or:

    Borrow money from your parents.

"hi, im a student and as [all ] many students do, have being experiencing some cash flow problems."

It may not be possible but Mum and Dad are often the best source for a loan.

The OP is talking about cash flow problem, which should mean he/she receives some money, but at irregular intervals. I also experienced such problems. Accurate use of CC replaces asking friends and parents for some money when you have to pay now but get money later. It also helps to build credit history. I have HSBC CC given after 6 months banking with them, but for overseas students limit is frozen at 250 pounds! Natwest gave CC immediately with 350 limit recently increased to 400.

Best of luck! Good use of credit makes life simpler.
