I assume you are claiming Incapacity Benefit. If you still have problems with your health and still think you qualify you should carry on claiming this.
  • yes will have to wait and see what the consultant says in April and take it from there l suppose, its all ifs and buts at the moment, but thankyou for the advice.inky

Health benefits are given because of how your daily life is affected by your symptoms, not because of any particular diagnosis. If you still have problems that affect you, you will still be able to claim IB. Don't worry - enjoy each day!

You need to make sure that you collect evidence of your disability if you claimed DLA under the special rules, once you are cancer free after 5 years you may be one of the people contacted under the RPP because the goverment has a "hit list" of conditions and 80% of RRP contacts are claimants claiming under one of the conditions on that list and claimants who claimed under the special rules five years later are one such condition.

The hit list is available on benefits and works.

  • Well sunnyone thanks for that info, but dont have a clue what the "hit list" is you talk of and what it might entail,or what the letters RPP mean, please explain a bit more about it to this dimwit !!!!
  • I don't know what sunnyone means either and would be glad of some clarification.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
