I have had an e-mail from "me" to everyone in my contacts saying to an ugg shop to get christmas presents. How can I stop this from happening again? It's gone to everyone!
Thanks x

Sounds like you have an infection.
Do a virus scan, also download and run Malwarebytes antimalware.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • I agree. Sounds like one of the all too common viruses. You need to scan your machine pronto.

  • Is it a Hotmail address by any chance?
  • download malware bytes and AVG and do a thorough scan
  • Probably don't have a virus, but worth a scan just in case. It's more likely your account has been hijacked so change your password and security question.

  • could be a hijacked account this is quite common especially if you are not careful with your details online. but my gut feeling is that this is a worm. A good virus scanner should pick this up. Please ensure your virus scanner is fully updated with the latest definitions. If you dont have antivirus software i would suggest a scan with avg free from download.com as some virus like problems will block websites original antivirus developers.
  • If this is on a hotmail account it's not a worm, loads of account details where hacked a while back.

I had it too, emails sent from my account to everyone in my address book saying buy PC equipment from this website etc etc... load of crap they even put it as my signature, couple of mates had the same thing happen to them.

A simple password change and security question change stopped it.

As mentioned, Google was hacked aswell. In all, the 3 main providers were all hacked (Hotmail, Google and Yahoo). It's possible other smaller providers were also hacked but those were the only ones that made the national news.
