Can anyone help?? I need some smallish glass bottles with screw top lids for bottling home made chilli sauce - last time I managed to buy a crate of 250 ml hibiscus drinks in glass bottles from Approved Food, which worked out about 6p a bottle!

However, they no longer stock this, and I am looking for some bottles which fit the bill - I can either drink or dispose of the contents, but cannot find any other than some posh juice drinks at over £1 a bottle...

...any other ideas? I have been looking online at Britvic etc, but they seem to have beer bottle type lids (i.e. the ones you open with an opener)

I am running out of ideas....

thanks in advance!

FC

ETA - I did think about the small sized wine bottles - do pubs sell these? If so, I wonder if I could beg some empties? They do need to be clear though, rather than green or brown

    Hi foreign correspondent,

My local pub sells wine in clear 250ml bottles with screw tops, although I don't know if they will give the empties away. Last year when ds2 needed bottle tops for a project they were happy to give them to us so it might be worth asking. They can only say no.

It might work better if you do as I did and drag a small child in with you in the late afternoon when they're quiet, and tell them it's for a school project. I think they would have given us anything, just to get the pair of us off the premises. :D

... I dont have one!! I may be able to borrow one though - if not, I guess it is just a case of giving them my most winning smile and using a little flattery!

Is Asda smart price curry jars too big ??
They are 4p each... but hold 440g....
And they are a proper jar, as opposed to a bottle....

Yeah, too big sadly - and a bottle is better - in a jar too much drips down the side when you try and pour it.. a narrow bottle neck works better for condiments... thanks for the thought though!

This is a long a shot, but have you tried a homebrew shop, that is of course if there is one within easy distance of you.
Woofles you need to get out of that house. You are going insane:eek: - colinw

    Freecycle?
If you're going to ask the pub to save some for you, might swing it if you take a bag/box etc for them to store them in. Storage space behind a bar is usually pretty tight and that will mean most pubs say no to these sort of requests. Will also help if you say that you can pick any up every couple of days or so.
It aint over til I've done singing....

Just a thought and they may be too big at 568ml but Tesco's value vinegar is in a glass bottle and only costs 13p.
