Annoying problems after add-on

When on Facebook earlier, I made one of those Xmas vids, not jibjab, LoL I think it was called. It had to put an add-on on my Firefox. And now everything has gone wrong!
When I click the plus on tabs, I am now on a Fast Search facility and it used to go directly to the address bar, now I move the mouse to get there. I tried uninstalling it by going into Tools>Add-ons>Fast Browser Search 1.0.0 .. Firefox never restarted so I shut it down myself. And its still there!!!
Also, the smooth scrolling down of pages is now jumpy and slow.
And, the fan is working overtime!!!
Help please, I'm getting a right radge on!!!

It sounds like a right pain, I'd only ever install addons directly from Mozilla

seems I can't post links as a newbie so it's a copy/paste
Try this -Type about:config in the address bar in Firefox. In the filter, type fast. This should bring up all the instances of where Fast Browser Search has taken over. Right click on each of the Fast Browser Search entry s and select reset. This should put most of them back to google. And that’s it!
UPDATE: One of our readers, ED, has added another stepThere was a few more steps i needed to do to remove it from list…in the search engine toolbar I had forgotten to click that and manage search engines as well, after the Tools/Add-on removal. Also , in the about:config area, I also typed in … fbs … in the filter section and found more fast browser search stuff in that filter set. Just in case, I reset them as well.=)0 -
Thanks, right I did the fast and that was ok, about half a dozen came up to reset.. however in the fbs there is about 40-60.. does that seem ok to carry on resetting those?
Thanks
