Warmfront

Hi all,
We have recently had our boiler replaced via the warmfront scheme.
Now originally they quoted for an ideal boiler however we did a bit of research and the ideal boiler turned up as being low in the consumer ratings and breakdowns. I did a bit more research and came up with the worcester bosch green star 28i. After a few fervent phonecalls we had our house re-assessed and it was agreed for a green star boiler to be installed.
Superb we thought, our earnings have seen a dramatic decline, we are living on minus pounds and our boiler was constantly refusing to work, we were given the grant and then the installation began...

(I'll update tomorrow, the story continues...)

Blimee! Are we about to see an actual happy punter that hasn't been shortchanged under the Warmfront scam?

<waits for further data with great interest>

Are we about to see a happy punter...?

So after investigating and pushing for a different and BETTER quality boiler we had to have another central heating survey, nothing was changed from the last one but... our original boiler could contain asbestos!!! Aaagh I hear you say! It looks like it may be just a washer but it will need an approved asbestos team to come in and remove the boiler at the cost of £600, Okay, I said does that involve men i white suits etc? Most definately was the reply and don't worry the £600 for removing it is not inculded in the grant that will come out of 'the pot'.
So, the Monday morning arrives, only to receive a telephone call at 10am - Bit busy now will be round tommorrow and start the installation, I return the call a bit worried about the 'asbestos removal team' arriving and ripping out the boiler leaving us with nothing ... the plot thickens...

That, to me, says boiler already replaced.

So who IS paying the £ 600 if it doesn't come out of the grant?
    ... the plot thickens...
    It seems so.

The second post was placed retrospectively, meaning I had the bolier replace via warmfront scheme. There isn't a timeline problem here. The second post is written retrospectively - end of.

Sorry the £600 came out of honest hardworking taxpayers money not the grant to peoples like me that cannot afford to replace their boiler.

So, an extension to that is £600 to remove an asbestos boiler and dispose of it is reasonable? It probaly is ! But when it is one man turn up , normal clothes, chucks the bolier on the front verge, orders a hippo bag, and then blow me down the good old scrap diddies scrape it off of the ground IS THAT A GOOD £600 OF TAXPAYERS MONEY SPENT?

A twist to this - the same man ripped the ASBESTOS contaminated boiler from my wall and replaced it with an A rated boiler,
£600 where did that go? Who took it away?
I tell you now, that the particualar boiler that was removed from my house with the apparent hazardous asbestos washer was weighed in to the scrapyard and there was not one hazardous asbestos removal team present.

So who has been paid 600 quid hazardous licensed asbestos removal- you tell me... There isn't any 'timelines' to get hung up about.

I'm not getting hung up about anything. Keep your hair on. Your first post yesterday was written as though its in real time with the next instalment due today but you now say its retrospective. Or are you just telling the story in chunks to keep us all in suspense?

    Cheers

Why did you not state in your first post that this was going to be a story told after the fact? You getting stroppy when someone queries the timeline you defined is out of oreder.
If you want to comment on the fact that warmfront scheme in my opinion rips off everyone from the taxpayer to the person having the boiler replaced then do so.
I thought it was common knowledge that warmfront is a con for many people and the introduction of the boiler scrappage scheme will give them a wider scope for further scams.
  • thats a complete joke about the asbestos , seems funny how it wasnt picked up in your first survey until of course you wanted a decent boiler .
my parents qualified for a new central heating system from this sham of a company , turned out it would have cost them more in putting their collection of china and antique furniture into storage and for redecoration than it would cost for them to actually pay a plumber to fit a new heating system themselves

    another great government scheme !!!!!
  • Okay, I wasn't getting shirty and yes I was posting retrospectively and in chunks as the story was quite a long one, apologies for any misconception there.
Now, after having the boiler fitted which incidentaly took 4 days - I don't know why as it was a straight in and out job, the boiler seemed to work fine.
Like I said earlier, we have been down on our luck and the boiler needed to be sorted unfortunately this was the only way I could find of having it done, I really wish I could've had a local person do it and keep the money locally but beggars can't be choosers.
Still the come upunce of this, is, now the boiler looses pressure at least twice a day, I reported the problem in the middle of November and still have not had any news as to when an engineer will call and fix it!
