Dell shipping from China?

I brought many items from Dell over the years and they have always shipped from Ireland.

Just recently ordered a laptop and today it's saying, Shipped - China

Have they moved and closed the Ireland production down?

Anyone have experience how long it takes once it says shipped to actually receiving the item from China?

I would imagine they have warehouses all over the world. Instead of making the item out of stock or w.e they shipped from another warehouse that did have stock.
  • Well I finally received it today, Although I had problems with Walsh Western and its Delivery.

Shipped on the 10th, on the 14th had automatic phone call to schedule delivery, told me 16th was available for my order, so booked the delivery.

Waited a few hours on the 16th then checked the online tracking just in case (Lucky i did)and it hadn't even been received at the warehouse let alone dispatched.

Rang up, they apologised and re booked for 17th.

17th came and again not dispatched, so rang up again queued on the phone for 40min at 10p a min and told me sorry we don't know why it didn't dispatch.

Re-booked for the 3rd time, for 18th and I finally received it today.

Unfortunately yes, the manufacturing plant in Limerick (Ireland) has been closed and production moved to their factory in Poland. (http://news.cnet.com/8301-1001_3-10136439-92.html)

Doesn't explain the china thing though :s

When was the order dispatched from China?

You should get a automated phonecall from Walsh Western 4 business days after its dispatched. Book it in but keep an eye on the Tracking email otherwise you might be sitting waiting all day when they haven't even dispatched it.
It should say "order dispatched from hub" late evening the night before they deliver it to you, otherwise they won't be delivering it.

I think you might not receive it by Christmas.

Mine only reached the warehouse on the 6th day from China, which for you would be Christmas Eve. And although I had a scheduled delivery they didn't deliver it for 2 more days and obviously your going to have the holidays in between.

Let us know when it does arrive, it would be nice to see how long they took.;)
