Problems playing DVD

I hope someone might be able to help me here.
To cut a long story short, I created a home video and used the software that came with the camera to create a DVD. This plays fine on my TV's DVD player. It also plays when using Power DVD. The problem is with Windows Media Player. I can see the image but can't hear anything. I've made sure that the volume is right up but nothing happens.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
