Hi all, I started reclaiming my charges with nat west over 2 years ago via a company on the internet..I had no idea there were forums like this
A few months after my initial claim I was informed by the company that were acting on my behalf about the test case which had just arisen. I was Gutted to say the least. I had no further contact with the company as they said they could do nothing until after the test case and would then take up my case again.
Some background info, I had an Advantage gold account with natwest and in 2006 I lost my job and was claiming income support etc. I had a £300 overdraft and quickly got into a bit of a mess. They would often take all of my benefits out of the account due to charges and I would be in tears on the phone. The only way I could see to stop this was to transfer my benefits over to a different bank account I had with Lloyds which I did. I was still Incurring charges on my NatWest account. The last letter I received from them I was informed I owed them around £750. As far as I know my account was closed as I haven't received any statements from them for around 18 months.
Out of the blue 2 months ago I received a letter from them regarding financial hardship and enclosed was the financial statement form. I filled it in and sent it off. I was then contacted again for further support of my debts which I supplied.
My initial claim back in 2006 was for £4000 with interest, I received a letter this morning offering me a goodwill payment of £4280. As you can imagine I am thrilled to bits but unsure what will happen now.
I am In debt with my council tax and owe £1200 and I also Owe Natwest £750. Will they deduct this from the payment offered? There was no mention of this in the letter and I am unsure how these things work. Any one have any ideas?

Hello, I'm no expert on these types of things but I imagine that if you still hold an account with Natwest, that they will pay the funds into that. Then you will be clear your overdraft off, close that account and the remaining balance will be sent to you a cheque. This is only a guess though.0

If you owe money to natwest or any associated brands they will deduct the amount from the figure offered.
However they should of detialed that in there letter to you.

Hello, Thanks for the replies

As far as I am aware I no longer have the account with them so if so how would they pay the reclaimed charges? Would they send a cheque?
I guessed they might deduct the money owing from the offer but will they also pay my Council tax from the amount too? I must say I would prefer this option as its one less bill to worry about lol
Sorry for all the questions, its all a bit confusing.0 -
Does the offer letter have a contact number? If so, just phone and ask how this will be paid0

No, you'd have to waitt il it cleared then pay the council yourself.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

Nobody going to ask the OP which internet company he used?0

Personally, I couldn't care less which company they used but that does also mean a debt to that company as well which is probably 25% of any payout so the other debt not mentioned is the company fee of about £1000.00Nobody going to ask the OP which internet company he used?

Hope the wink identifies the fact that you understand that my post has an underlying meaning.0 -
Hi just to add the bank are now dealing with me and have done so for the last 18 months. I am no longer using this company. The company I failed to mention was AMBR. Yes I knew about the charges as a family member used them successfully before and mentioned them to me. I had no idea at that time I could reclaim them myself and even when I did it seemed a bit overwhelming for me. Hope that clears things up.
Situation as stands..I have contacted them and my account is still open but frozen. I have to check later next week to see if the funds have gone in, they will deduct the amount owed to them and I need to speak to recovery to get the remaining amount. So good so far.0
