in Redundancy & redundancy planning
I was made redundant on 14 oct. I made my claim to RPO and today received a response, they said because I hadnt had 2 yrs service I wouldnt qualify for redundancy pay. I started my job on the 22nd Oct 2007. With my weeks notice which I claim for separatly this will bring me to the 21 Oct 2009.

1 DAY!!! I miss by 1 DAY!!

Now this may seem silly but last yr (2008) was a leap year!! I worked that 1 extra day, will this count? I did ask RPO via email however they failed to respond to my email, perhaps they thought I was taking the mick, I'm soooo not!!

I'm serious, will this not count?

    It won't I'm afraid, it has to be two whole calendar years, not 2 x 365 days.
    Gone ... or have I?

    that's very bad luck. I'm so sorry. the cost of redundancy for an employee with 2 years service is comparatively small, but it would have helped.
    Debt free 4th April 2007.
    New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.
