claiming benefits after being sacked?

can u claim if u have been sacked from your job on a gross misconduct charge?

what if u r the only income generator in the family and have to support a non working wife and a baby but have no income now due to the sacking??

    The only benefit that would be affected by the nature of your employment ending would be JSA.

    You should claim immediately but your benefit may be sanction for a period up to 26 weeks.
  • if you aren't already claiming (and live in a rented property) then you should be able to get housing benefit.

    Claim for JSA. You may get sanctioned. Also inform tax credits. If you're not already claiming, put in a claim. Even if you don't get JSA you will get Child Tax Credit. Also put in for Council Tax Credit and if renting, Housing Benefit/LHA.
